Access Denied: Let's send GWB home with a 403

Access Denied. You don't have permission to access http://www.georgewbush.com/ on this server.

Access Denied. That's the message W's campaign is sending to visitors attempting to reach his website, http://www.georgewbush.com/, from out of the country.

Heaven forbid any furriners (or Americans abroad, not to mention those involuntarily so) should want to see what the U.S. President is running on. (More on BoingBoing; this screenshot obtained using the tor anonymizing proxy with a German exit node.)

The American public should send the same message to G.W.Bush this November 2. He wants four more years in the White House? Access Denied. Please get out to vote and help replace Bush with a team that can help bring this country forward.

This saddens me. I happily have been viewing your musings via rss feed for months now. But when you move into the political arena you showed a bias and thus I can no longer trust your stories to be free of personal political skew. Thanks for all the great stories up to now. Maybe I will check back sometime in the future to see if you have moved back into the realm of unbiased news. Thanks, -Jonathan H. Logan, Utah

Sorry you feel that way. I've posted a mix of responses to issues that concern me, mostly intellectual property and free speech, but politics is too important to ignore. If it's any counter to the expected bias, I'll note that the Democrats have tended to be worse for the IP commons than Republicans. I'm voting for John Kerry because I think he'll be better for the country in most of the other realms in which a president leads.

Fair enough. Thanks for a well thought out response. I came across harsher than intended. I definetely will return to reading as soon as this political "fun" blows over. Thanks again, -Jonathan H. Logan, Utah

Probably to prevent hacking attempts. It doesn't matter anymore anyway.
